Welcome to Filing Bankruptcy Questions. My name is Cody and I am starting this blog to be a source of information for people who are considering filing bankruptcy and have questions about whether bankruptcy is right for them. First, the disclaimer. I am not a bankruptcy attorney or an expert on bankruptcy law. I am intending to provide information and links to other resources on the internet that deal with bankruptcy and answer common bankruptcy questions. I will share what I have done and what has worked for me. However, you will need to consult your own tax professionals and lawyers before taking any action. I will not be help liable for any harm that results from an individual taking action suggested on this website. It is your responsibility to take responsibility for your own financial future.
Okay, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, I would like to talk about what Filing Bankruptcy Questions is going to be about. First, a little about me. My name is Cody and I am a 28 year old single male living in Texas in the United States. When I was 18 years old I got my first credit card and I managed my credit very carefully. I never carried a balance at first and always was very prompt with my payments. Because of this I started getting offers for other credit cards and I decided that I wouldn't hurt to have several credit cards and I accepted any offer that did not have an annual fee. Soon I had several thousand dollars of credit and I started charging more frequently and carrying a balance. When I graduated from college I got some money and I paid off all my credit cards and I asked several of them to raise my limit. They did and now I had a lot of credit at my disposal but I was having trouble finding a good job. I was living outside my means and using my credit cards to pay my expenses. I simply could not afford to make more than the minimum payments on each. This went on for a while until I couldn't afford to make the minimum payments any more so I started to default. And then I realized that I had to look into bankruptcy options. I am in the process of filing bankruptcy now and I have started this blog to provide information about the process to other people wondering if bankruptcy is right for them. I also want to have a lot of great bankruptcy information all in one place.
I realized in my search for answers to my bankruptcy questions that there was a lot of great information online but that it wasn't very well organized. You see, I have a lot of questions about the bankruptcy process and I am still trying to decide if bankruptcy is right for me, though actually it seems like I do not have another choice but bankruptcy. And I know that there are millions of other people that find themselves in the same situation that I am in and need bankruptcy information and answers to their bankruptcy questions. Therefore, I am going to try to provide the best answers to these questions that I can find so that this blog, Filing Bankruptcy Questions, has the best information and good organization of bankruptcy information. Of course, I am also going to provide my own personal story about struggling with credit card debt and having to file bankruptcy because of it. I realize that this is a hard decision for many people to make and I realize that people like me need information to make this sort of decision. Therefore, that is what I am going to provide here at Filing Bankruptcy Questions.
